An Alternative to High-Priced Stock PhotographyBigStockPhoto provides designers with an alternative to high-priced stock photography, in addition to providing photographers with a marketplace to sell their work. Why pay $50-$100 for a stock photo when you can get it here for about $1.50? Power to the people!

With the advent of the digital photography, and so many people armed with cameras of high enough quality to shoot great photos, we loved the idea of making these photos available to each other, at a low price, while paying the photographers a commission for each photo sold.

At this time you'll find more web resolution photography on BigStockPhoto than print resolution, but more high res photos are being added daily.
A Marketplace for PhotographersApproved photographers can upload their photos to BigStockPhoto, and upon approval by copyright and quality editors, these photos can be downloaded by other users.

Each time a photo is downloaded, the photographer earns 50 cents. When photographers have earned at least $30 they can request a Paypal or check payment.

Truly Royalty-FreeAdditionally, our royalty-free licensing agreements cover usages that other so called "royalty-free" agreements fail to offer - such as use within web design templates. If you are a creator and seller of web design templates most services like Getty and Photodisc, etc. limit your ability to resell your templates with their so called "royalty-free" photos in them - but not at BigStockPhoto!

Generally, the only things you can't do with our photos is 1.) resell or repost them as stock photography or in a photography collection or 2.) use human model photos in a way that is degrading or slanderous or pornographic to the model. Please refer to our
Photographers Agreement and Image Usage Agreement for full details.

You DO need to re-purchase a photo each time you use it in a new project... (it's only fair to the photographers at these low low prices). So if you use the same photo in more than one web template or more than one newsletter, etc you should re-purchase it for each separate use.
